The Session of First Presbyterian Church will be gathering on Saturday, January 7th, at the church for its annual retreat. It will be a time to prepare for its responsibilities in the coming year. There are details to preview, for sure—things like committee structure and responsibilities, elder deployment, scheduling, etc. However, details matter only as they serve a larger purpose. So Session members also will reflect on the church’s vision and on their specific role, “chosen by the congregation to discern and measure its fidelity to the Word of God, and to strengthen and nurture its faith and life (Book of Order, G-2.0301).”
Be praying for the Elders whom this congregation elected to serve in 2017:
Class of 2017—Greg Blackmon, Peggy Blanchard, Joan Dorsett, Coke Gray, and Ethan Scott
Class of 2018—Mandy Horne, Ben Kilpatrick, Sally Medford, Fuller Royal, and Debbie Viets
Class of 2019—Sara Cartrette, Coke Gray III, Kaye Pope, and Douglas Spivey
Kaye and Douglas will be ordained and installed in worship on the 8th; Sara and Coke III will be installed that day.
